The Bandit

wearing your black mask
i see now what you were hiding

the bandit came and stole my coin purse
with the ring from my great-grandmother inside it
a treasured heirloom entrusted to me
now disappears within the shadow of the thief

everything i had
everything i had left

when you took off your mask
i see now what you were hiding

inside true colors bleed darker than the stains from my past
you know what gun you pointed to my head

robbed of all my goods
empty on the shelf
will no one stop this thief
hoarding all that once had light

the bandit jumped to steal everything i had left
salvaged from what was already taken
witnessed by whom i had mistaken
hidden behind the shadow of the thief

inside true colors bleed darker than the stains from my past
you know what gun you pointed to my head

when you took off your mask
i see now what you were hiding
